Cranmer Square Bead
Wednesday, 05 October
Many of us are mourning the loss of our Cranmer Square buildings following the September and February earthquakes and aftershocks. To many of us they were Girls’ High.

The Old Girls’ Committee is fortunate to have been given the opportunity to commemorate our old school through the creation of a silver bead of the building. This is available in the form of a slim pendant, a hollow charm bracelet bead, a Pandora-style bead, and a bead with a hanging clasp.

'Old' School buildings in Cranmer Square
Tuesday, 24 May
Members have been enquiring about the status of the old school's buildings on the Cranmer Square site. The buildings are now owned by Christ's College.

The buildings were badly damaged in the earthquake and were demolished in May 2011. At our recent AGM Mrs Taylor, the School's Principal, advised that Christ's College and others involved with the demolition have been very co-operative during this sad process. As a result, pieces have been salvaged and these will be stored at the Matai Street site. The intention is that they will be incorporated into the Matai St site and buildings in the future.

Please be aware that the Matai Street site has also suffered significant damage in the earthquakes.
